About EspressoSpec
Espresso machine marketing sells finishes, app features, and Italian adjectives. What actually decides your mornings is plumbing: whether the boiler holds a temperature, whether you can steam while you brew, and how long the machine takes to be honest with you after the switch flips. None of that is on the product page in numbers you can compare.
EspressoSpec is built around a single spec database (8 machines, 6 grinders, and growing). Every machine gets the same gauge cluster — SpecScore, temperature stability, warm-up — and the same chips: heat system, PID, steam-while-brew. Every ranking and head-to-head verdict is computed from that database with documented weights, so when a spec is corrected, every answer updates with it.
The other half of the site is the dial-in calculator: standard espresso conventions (25–32 seconds from first drip, one variable at a time) turned into an instrument, because most "bad machine" verdicts are actually bad grind settings.
